Whois (pronounced "who is"; not an acronym) is a TCP-based query/response protocol which is widely used for querying an official database in order to determine the owner of a domain name, IP address or GEO location of a Website. Results also display the Domain Name System (DNS) servers used to resolve the domain name to a Website's IP address.
The Whois Tool is not technically a search engine optimization tool, but is a very important and useful tool that allows you to make sure your domain name has not been hijacked, and to verify the search engines can quickly and accurately find your Website each and every time they visit. This is a bonus tool.
